SAN ANGELO, TX – Kevon Godwin of Blountstown, FL, a senior guard on the Angelo State University Rams basketball team, has been named the Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week for Week 10 of the season ending on Jan. 7.  He is the first-ever Angelo State men’s basketball player named LSC Player of the Week four times in one season.

As the No. 11 Rams swept home wins over Western New Mexico and Eastern New Mexico, Godwin averaged 18.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game, including a 20-point, 7-assist performance in the tight 88-85 victory over ENMU.

Godwin was the focal point of a Rams offense that went 3-0 this past week, with all three games being decided by one possession or less.

On the road against UT Permian Basin, he scored 30 points on 10-of-19 shooting, his second 30-point game in LSC play this season.

Godwin had 14 points versus Eastern New Mexico. Then versus Western New Mexico, the Interdisciplinary Studies major scored 21 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the field, including the game-winner with 4.1 seconds left to keep the Rams undefeated on their home court this season and extend their winning streak to nine games.

The junior guard is third in the LSC with 17.6 points per game and leads the conference in three-pointers per game (2.7 per contest) and three-point shooting percentage (41.9 percent).

For the season, Godwin is second on the Rams and seventh in the LSC in scoring at 17.2 points per game. He also ranks in the top five in the LSC in three pointers per game and assists per game. He is the first player this season to win both LSC Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week awards.
