CHIPLEY, FL – Drivers will encounter traffic disruptions on the following state roads in the Big Bend area as crews perform construction and maintenance activities.
Liberty County:
- S.R. 20 Routine Bridge Maintenance over Telogia Creek Relief – Motorists may encounter intermittent nighttime east and westbound lane closures Sunday, Aug. 16 through Thursday, Aug. 20 from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. for routine bridge maintenance.
Wakulla County:
- S. 319 Resurfacing from U.S. 319 off ramp to South of East Ivan Road – Motorists will encounter daytime shoulder closures Monday, Aug.17 through Friday, Aug. 21, for construction activities.
Franklin County:
- U.S. 98 Resurfacing from Franklin Street to Carrabelle River Bridge – Motorists may encounter intermittent lane closures Monday, Aug. 17 through Thursday, Aug. 20, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for construction activities.
Gulf County:
- U.S. 98 Resurfacing from the Intracoastal Waterway to St. Joe Inlet – U.S. 98 drivers will experience periodic intermittent lane closures from Avenue D to Angel Fish Street Tuesday, Aug. 18 through Thursday, Aug. 20 for guardrail construction.
- State Road (S.R.) 71 Concrete Rehabilitation Project – S.R. 71 drivers may experience periodic intermittent lane closures from U.S. 98 to Garrison Avenue, Sunday, Aug. 16 through Saturday, Aug. 22. Crews will be striping and placing permanent signage.
Leon County:
- S. 90 (Tennessee Street) Routine Maintenance from Stadium Drive to North Macomb Street – Motorists may encounter intermittent nighttime lane closures Monday, Aug. 17 through Sunday, Aug. 23 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for thermoplastic operations.
- S. 319 (Crawfordville Road) from South of S.R. 61 to Arden Road – Motorists may encounter intermittent lane closures Sunday, Aug. 16 through Thursday, Aug. 20, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. for construction activities.
- R. 263 (Capital Circle) Resurfacing from south of U.S. 90 (Tennessee Street) to north of Interstate 10 (I-10) – Motorists may encounter intermittent lane closures Sunday, Aug. 16 through Friday, Aug. 21, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for construction activities.
- R. 366 (Pensacola Street) Resurfacing from the Railroad Overpass to Stadium Drive – Motorists may encounter intermittent lane closures Sunday, Aug. 16 through Friday, Aug. 21, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for construction activities.
- S.R. 363 (Woodville Highway) Traffic Signal Operation at County Road 2192 (Natural Bridge Road) – Motorists may encounter intermittent daytime lane closures Monday, Aug. 17 through Friday, Aug. 21, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for construction activities.

- Interstate 10 (I-10) Routine Bridge Maintenance U.S. 90 Overpass – Motorists may encounter intermittent nighttime southbound lane closures east of Quincy, Tuesday, Aug. 18 from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. for routine bridge maintenance.
- U.S. 27 (S.R. 20) Routine Bridge Maintenance Gadsden Street Overpass – Motorists may encounter intermittent nighttime eastbound lane closures east of S.R. 61, Wednesday, Aug. 19 from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. for routine bridge maintenance.
- U.S. 27 (S.R. 20) Routine Bridge Maintenance Franklin Boulevard Overpass – Motorists may encounter intermittent nighttime eastbound lane closures east of the State Capitol, Wednesday, Aug. 19 from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. for routine bridge maintenance.

- U.S. 27 (S.R. 20) Routine Bridge Maintenance Franklin Boulevard Overpass – Motorists may encounter intermittent nighttime eastbound lane closures east of the State Capitol, Thursday, Aug. 20 from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. for routine bridge maintenance.

CHIPLEY, FL – Drivers will encounter traffic disruptions on the following state roads in the Central Panhandle area as crews perform construction and maintenance activities.
Bay County:
- U.S. 231 Intersection Improvement at Star Avenue/Titus Road – Titus Road is temporarily closed at the U.S. 231 intersection. The closure is required for the reconstruction and realignment of Titus Road and to construct a new bridge. Drivers should detour via U.S. 231, State Road (S.R.) 390 and Titus Road. Detour signs are in place to safely direct drivers through the work zone. The temporary closure of Titus Road at U.S. 231 is expected to be in place through late 2026.
- U.S. 231 (S.R. 75)/23rd Street (S.R. 368) Resurfacing Project – 23rd Street drivers will encounter periodic intermittent lane closures from U.S. 231 to Harrison Avenue Sunday, Aug. 16 through Friday, Aug. 21 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for sidewalk work.
- S.R. 390 Widening from 23rd Street to Baldwin Road – Drivers will encounter intermittent lane closures near the S.R. 390 and 23rd Street intersection Sunday, Aug. 16 through Friday, Aug. 21 from 8:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. Crews will be striping and placing pavement markings.
- S.R. 390 Bridge Rehabilitation over Mill Bayou – S.R. 390 drivers may experience brief travel delays near the Mill Bayou Bridge Sunday, Aug. 16 through Saturday, Aug. 22. Crews will be mobilizing equipment and materials to the project site to continue construction activities.
- DuPont Bridge Replacement Project – U.S. 98 drivers will encounter periodic outside lane closures from Oak Shore Drive to Bonita Bay Drive Sunday, Aug. 16 through Thursday, Aug. 20 from 5 p.m. to 6 a.m. for widening and drainage work.
- U.S. 98 Widening Project from Richard Jackson Boulevard to the Hathaway Bridge – U.S. 98 drivers will encounter periodic intermittent lane closures from Richard Jackson Boulevard to the Hathaway Bridge Sunday, Aug. 16 through Thursday, Aug. 20 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for milling and paving operations. In addition, due to underground utility work, the closure at Augusta Road (10X Living entrance) will be extended through Saturday, Aug. 15.
Holmes County:
- U.S. 90 and S.R. 79 Bonifay Resurfacing Project – U.S. 90 drivers will encounter periodic intermittent lane closures from Banfill Avenue to Depot Street Wednesday, Aug. 19 and Thursday, Aug. 20 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. for grading and paving operations. In addition, S.R. 79 drivers will encounter intermittent periodic lane shifts from Michigan Avenue to Minnesota Avenue from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Crews will be installing gravity wall.
- S.R. 79 Roadway Reconstruction Project in New Hope – Drivers will encounter periodic lane closures and traffic stoppages Monday, Aug. 17 through Friday, Aug. 21 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. as crews perform construction activities. Signage and traffic flaggers will be in place to safely direct drivers through the work zone.
- S.R. 79 Routine Utility Maintenance from North Avenue to County Road 177 in Bonifay – Drivers will encounter intermittent lane closures Monday, Aug. 17 through Thursday, Sept. 3 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for routine utility maintenance.
Washington County:
- Interstate 10 Bridge Rehabilitation over Pate Pond Road (Exit 104) – Drivers will encounter westbound lane closures at the overpass, Monday, Aug. 17 through Friday, Aug. 21 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. for paving operations.
- U.S. 90 Bridge Maintenance over Alligator Creek – Motorists may encounter intermittent nighttime east and westbound lane closures Monday, Aug. 17 from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. for routine bridge maintenance.

U.S. 98 Shared-Use Trail Project
hybrid public meeting in
Franklin & Wakulla counties
CHIPLEY, FL – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will hold a hybrid public meeting concerning the U.S. 98 shared-use trail project in Franklin and Wakulla counties on Thursday, Aug. 20, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. (EDT).
Citizens are encouraged to attend the virtual meeting at www.nwflroads.com/projects/437090-8. Those who are unable to participate virtually may attend the meeting in-person at the Panacea Community Center, 115 Otter Lake Road, Panacea. Pre-registration is required for the virtual format and encouraged for in-person attendees. The same materials will be presented for each format.
The intent of this project is to construct a shared-use trail along the east side of U.S. 98 from Alligator Drive to Surf Road/Mashes Sands Road. No additional right of way is required. Bids for construction are scheduled to occur mid-2028.

Reid Avenue closure at
State Rd. 71 in Gulf County
CHIPLEY, FL –Reid Avenue will be closed at State Road (S.R.) 71 in Gulf County beginning Monday, June 22. Drivers will detour via Williams Avenue, Fourth Street and Monument Avenue. Access to businesses on Reid Avenue will be maintained at all times during the closure, which is expected to remain in place through late June.
Drivers are reminded that S.R. 71 between Williams Avenue and Monument Avenue has been reduced to two lanes, one in each direction. All traffic is currently shifted to the northbound side of the roadway while crews reconstruct the southbound lanes.
This work is part of a $2 million pavement rehabilitation project on S.R. 71, from U.S. 98 to Garrison Avenue, in Gulf County. Additional project improvements include sidewalk and crosswalk improvements, signalization upgrades, stormwater management enhancements and new signing and pavement markings. This project is scheduled for completion in late 2026.

CURRENT PROJECTS

U.S. 231 & 23rd St. resurfacing
project to begin in Bay County
CHIPLEY, FL –The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will begin an $11.4 million project to resurface and improve two roadway segments in Bay County, including U.S. 231 (State Road (S.R.) 75) from U.S. 98 (15th Street) to Baldwin Road (C.R. 231) and 23rd Street (S.R. 368) from S.R. 390 to U.S. 231.
Planned project work includes:
- Signalization upgrades.
- Sidewalk improvements.
- Curb and gutter and drainage enhancements.
- Signing and pavement marking.
Additional improvements are also planned along S.R. 390 (Beck Avenue) from U.S. 98 to 23rd Street and on S.R. 327 (Lisenby Avenue) from 23rd Street to S.R. 390.
During construction, lane closures may occur nightly between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. For the U.S. 231 segment between U.S. 98 and Baldwin Road, lane closures from Memorial Day through Labor Day will be limited to Sunday through Thursday nights between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.
This project is scheduled for completion in mid-2028.

Ecofina Creek Bridge in
Bay County being replaced
CHIPLEY, FL – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will begin a $14.8 million project to replace the existing Econfina Creek Bridge on State Road 20 in Bay County. Additional improvements for this project include:
- Roadway approach reconstruction.
- New guardrail.
- Drainage improvements.
- Signing and pavement markings.
During construction, a temporary roadway and bridge will be constructed, just north of the existing structure to allow crews to demolish and reconstruct the bridge in the existing location. Two travel lanes, one in each direction, will remain open. Additionally, access to the Pitt and Sylvan recreation area and the Econfina Public Canoe Launch will remain open throughout construction.
Drivers may encounter periodic lane closures and minimal traffic disruptions. Noise and vibration will occur during pile‑driving operations. The speed limit will remain at 45 mph.
This project is scheduled for completion in late 2029.

Temporary intersection closure
planned for State Road (S.R.) 71
& Woodward Avenue in Gulf Co.
GULF CO., FL – Beginning Wednesday, June 3 the S.R. 71 intersection at Woodward Avenue will be temporarily closed for valve removal and concrete slab replacement. The closure is expected to be extended through Monday, June 15. Drivers should follow detour signage through the work zone.
This work is part of a $2 million pavement rehabilitation project on S.R. 71, from U.S. 98 to Garrison Avenue, in Gulf County. Additional project work includes sidewalk and crosswalk improvements, signalization upgrades, stormwater management enhancements and new signing and pavement markings. The work is scheduled for completion later this year.

Intersection closure
for Tennessee Street
TALLAHASSEE, FL – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) began a $7.5 million resurfacing and improvement project on State Road (S.R.) 10 (U.S. 90/Tennessee Street) from S.R. 61 (U.S. 27/Monroe Street) to S.R. 265 (Magnolia Drive) in Leon County on May 31, 2026.
Project improvements include:
- Milling and resurfacing.
- Retaining wall replacement.
- Curb ramps and ADA improvements.
- Signing and pavement markings.
- Landscaping and aesthetic enhancements.
Drivers may experience intermittent nighttime lane closures and restrictions, as well as select intersection detours between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.
All planned construction activities are weather-dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather.
Drivers are reminded to use caution when traveling through a work zone and to watch for construction workers and equipment entering and exiting the roadway. Speeding fines are doubled when workers are present.
This project is scheduled for completion Mid 2027.

TALLAHASSEE, FL – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has updated information concerning the resurfacing and improvement project on State Road (S.R.) 61 (South Monroe Street) from Perkins Street to north of Jefferson Street in Leon County. This Virtual Project Update provides interested persons with an opportunity to review information about the project. This project will resurface and improve 1.2 miles of S.R. 61 (South Monroe Street) from Perkins Street to north of Jefferson Street in Leon County in front of the state’s Capitol building. Project improvements include milling and resurfacing the roadway, improvements to curb ramps and Americans with Disabilities Act accessibility, signalization upgrades, updating signage and pavement markings, and manhole, valve, and meter box utility adjustments.
