GADSDEN CO. – A Liberty County man and a couple from Leon County were killed Friday in a 11:28 a.m. crash at Lake Talquin Hwy. and SR 267, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
An FHP press release sent out late Friday indicated that a southbound car crossed the center line, causing a head-on collision with a northbound SUV just inside the Gadsden County line.
FHP issued an updated report Saturday afternoon, which showed that the driver of the SUV, who was traveling south on SR 267, drove into the oncoming lane and into the path of the northbound car. Â
The SUV was driven by a 50-year-old Bristol man. The couple in the southbound car were from Tallahassee. The driver was a 78-year-old man who was traveling with a 74-year-old woman.
All three were pronounced dead at the scene.
The pair in the car were wearing seatbelts. Â The driver of the SUV was not.
FHP was assisted at the scene by the Gadsden County Sheriff”s Office, Liberty County Sheriff’s Office and Gadsden County Fire and Rescue.
