Bristol man dies in

collision on SR 20 in

Blountstown today

BLOUNTSTOWN, FL – A 47-year-old Bristol man was killed this afternoon after he drove into the oncoming lane and hit a truck at SR 20 and SW Charlie Wood Road in Blountstown today.

The Bristol man was eastbound on SR 20 at 1:10 p.m. CT when the Pepsi van he was driving crossed the double solid center line and hit a westbound delivery truck,  according to the report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

The left front of the van collided with the left front of the truck.  The van came to a stop in the eastbound lane, facing south.  The truck traveled onto the north shoulder and came to rest facing southeast, partially in the westbound lane.

The driver of the truck was a 26-year-old man from Dothan, AL. He and his passenger, a 24-year-old male from Midland City, AL, both escaped with only minor injuries.

The occupants of both vehicles were wearing seat belts.

The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, Calhoun County EMS, Blountstown Fire Department and Westside Fire Department assisted FHP at the scene.
