top prize in the Legends
Flathead Tournament

BRISTOL – There may be fewer fish in the river but there’s more money in the pockets of a local fishermen and women after this weekend’s Legends Fishing Tournament at the Bristol Boat Landing.
Sixty-two boats entered the tournament with 135 people dropping a line in the murky waters of the Apalachicola River in hopes of collecting the $5,000 top prize. That honor went to Mac Earnest who pulled in a whopping 38-lb. catfish.
Participants included 12 kids, 18 women, 105 men, including 13 veterans. Many of those who didn’t place didn’t go home empty-handed as numerous door prizes including new fishing rods, large cooking pots, tackle boxes and big nets were handed out.
Organizer Tommy Earnest said that a total of $16,230 in checks and prizes were given out after Sunday’s weigh-in.
The winners included:
BIG FISH – Marc Earnest – 38 lbs.
VETERANS CATCH – Eugene Earnest – 29 lbs.
WOMEN’S GROUP – Selena Capps – 13.5 lbs.
KIDS DIVISION – 1st place went to Blake Saser with a 20.5 pounder, Jeremiah Keel went home with 2nd place for his 11.5 lb. flathead and Evan Dixon and Braylon Bailey tied for 3rd place with a 10-lb. catch each.

2nd place – Andrew Sumner – 48.5 lbs.
3rd place – Eugene Earnest – 39 lbs.
4th place – Ken Sumner – 38.5 lbs.
5th place – John Lindsey – 37 lbs.
6th place – Jim Douglas – 35.5 lbs.
7th place – Allen Clark – 35 lbs.
8th place – Bobby Ross – 33 lbs.
