JACKSON COUNTY – An 80-year-old Altha man was critically injured after losing control of his pickup truck Monday afternoon in Jackson County.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol report, the driver was northbound in the outside lane SR 71, south of Old Spanish Trail, when he apparently suffered a medical incident and and ran off the road just before 4 p.m.
The truck traveled onto the east shoulder of the road and collided with a business sign. The report noted the driver was wearing his seat belt.
FHP was assisted at the scene by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Florida Fire Marshal’s Office, Jackson County Fire Rescue and Air Heart.
