JACKSON CO. – A 59-year-old Bristol woman who stopped on the west side unpaved shoulder of SR 71, facing south, sustained serious injuries after she pulled out make a U-turn to travel north and drove into the path of a southbound pickup truck Tuesday morning.

The SUV collided with the oncoming vehicle at 9:32 a.m.,  just south of Alliance Road, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

The front center of the pickup truck hit the left side of the SUV, causing disabling damage to both vehicles.

The SUV came to final rest in the northbound lane and partially on the east side paved shoulder, facing east.  

The pickup also came to a stop in the eastbound lane, partially on the east side paved shoulder facing south.
