Man arrested for
stealing cattle
gates and selling
them on Facebook
JACKSON COUNTY, FL – Multiple calls to The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office on March 20 reporting the theft of over $2000 worth of cattle gates resulted in the arrest of a man who was found to be selling them online.
The JCSO received a tip that William Matthew Cruce was selling numerous cattle gates on Facebook Marketplace for low prices. Contact was made with Cruce, and he agreed to come to the JCSO for an interview.
During the interview, he admitted to stealing the gates and provided locations of where he had stolen them from.
Cruce was arrested and is being charged with four counts of petit theft, one count of grand theft, and five counts of dealing in stolen property. On March 28, his bond was set at $65,000.
“We will absolutely not tolerate theft from the innocent, hardworking citizens of Jackson County,” Sheriff Edenfield said. “I am proud of investigators for their hard work in this case, and I am thankful for the tips from Jackson County citizens.”
