Two child care
workers arrested
for abusing kids
from the Blountstown Police Dept.
BLOUNTSTOWN, FL – Two employees of a local childcare center have been arrested in connection with multiple incidents of child abuse, following an internal review of surveillance footage initiated by facility supervisors.
The investigation began when supervisors at the North Florida Child Development Center were reviewing security footage to determine how a child sustained visible scratches. During their review, they observed multiple additional incidents of concern involving staff members and children in their care. The facility immediately contacted local law enforcement.
Captain Adam Terry of the Blountstown Police Department led the investigation. Upon reviewing the footage, Captain Terry identified multiple instances of inappropriate and abusive behavior toward children.
As a result of the investigation:
• Alexis Rose Duke has been charged with 16 counts of child abuse per F.S.S. 827.03
• Alyssa Paige Childree has been charged with 1 count of child abuse per F.S.S. 827.03
Warrants for both individuals were obtained, and they were taken into custody without incident on April 29, 2025.
The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges or actions may be considered as more information becomes available.
