JACKSON COUNTY, FL – A 56-year-old Marianna woman was killed late Thursday night when the vehicle she was riding in crashed into a tree.

According to the FHP report, the car was northbound on Lakepoint Road, approaching the intersection with US Hwy. 231 (SR 75) just before 11 p.m. when the driver – a 31-year-old Marianna woman – missed a sharp left curve in the road.

The vehicle left the road and collided with a standing tree on the north grassy shoulder of Lakepoint Road.

After impact, the car rolled over multiple times before coming to a stop sitting upright in the north side ditch.

The driver, along with a second passenger –  identified as a 46-year-old Marianna woman – both sustained minor injuries.

The crash report noted that no one traveling in the car was wearing a seatbelt.
