Calhoun road struck

& killed Wednesday

CALHOUN COUNTY, FL – A 36-year-old man walking along a Calhoun County Road early this morning was struck and killed by a driver who then fled the scene.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the victim was walking on the southbound side of NW Melvin New Grade Road, north of SR 20,  at 5:30 a.m. when he was hit.

A passerby discovered the body and called for help.  The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.  FHP troopers arrived later and took over the investigation.

Anyone with information about the Oct. 8 fatal crash is urged to contact FHP or the Sheriff’s Office.

The victim was identified as being from Altoona, FL.
