Kids OK following

side-by-side crash

in Liberty County

LIBERTY COUNTY,  FL – Four children traveling in a side-by-side utility vehicle driven by a 33-year-old man were involved in a crash Saturday afternoon, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The 5:30 p.m. wreck happened off CR 379 A, on a trail behind the family’s home.

Although it was initially reported to CLJNews.com that a 14-year-old in the vehicle suffered severe head injuries, a family member confirmed Tuesday that the youngster sustained only a two-inch laceration on the head. 

The remaining passengers included a seven-year-old,  ten-year-old, and four-year-old.  “Everyone is OK,” a relative said Tuesday.

Driver, 81, seriously

injured in Calhoun

County crash Monday

CALHOUN COUNTY,  FL – A Monday morning crash left an 81-year-old Panama City man with serious injuries while his passenger, a 51-year-old old male, escaped with minor injuries.

The pair were eastbound on SR 20, near NW J&S Lane in Youngstown, at 11:24 a.m. when the SUV went onto the south shoulder and overturned.  The vehicle came to a controlled stop on the driver’s side, trapping both men inside, according to the report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

First responders were joined at the scene by Good Samaritans who helped extract the injured men from the wreckage.

FHP was assisted by members of the Clarksville Volunteer Fire Department, the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, EMS and TMH Survival Flight.

FHP reported that both men were wearing their seatbelts.

  1. I just wanted to correct you on the kids injured in the side by side accident. It happened on private property off of 379A on a trail behind the residents house near a creek and it happened around 5:30pm. All individuals are okay.
