ALTHA – Altha School will hold a dedication ceremony for the Altha School softball field, which will officially be named Mary McClellan Field. The ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2026.

Coach McClellan graduated from Blountstown High School in 1976 before attending Chipola College, where she excelled in athletics. While at Chipola, she played tennis and served as the point guard for the Chipola Lady Indians basketball team. She later transferred to Florida State University, where she completed her Bachelor of Science degree in physical education.

Coach McClellan began her teaching career in 1982 and amassed 38 years of dedicated service — all at Altha School. During her tenure, she coached softball and compiled an impressive record of 201–131, leading her teams to four district championships.

The community is invited to attend the ceremony honoring Ms. McClellan’s outstanding contributions to Altha School and its athletic program.
