JAMES LUKE MYERS
CRAWFORDVILLEÂ – James Luke Myers, age 75, of Crawfordville passed away peacefully on Sunday, Feb. 5th, 2023 after battling a sudden illness. He was surrounded by his wife Gayle, his sons and grandchildren when the Lord took him home.
Luke was born in Doylestown, PA on June 9, 1947 to Charles Myers and Mary Godshall Myers.
After becoming valedictorian of the Blountstown High School Class of 1965, Luke earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Florida State University, as well as a Master’s Degrees from FSU and the University of Florida. Luke worked as a licensed Mental Health Counselor for over 30 years at Disc Village of Leon County before retiring in 2016.
In 1994, Luke married Gayle Beckstead and became a father to Gayle’s nine children. He was a loving son, husband and dedicated father. His love for his grandchildren will forever resonate in each and every one of them.
Luke was a man of great faith and a dedicated member of Berean Christian Fellowship for most of his life. He dedicated himself to outreach and helping others. Luke’s love for Photography and the outdoors often brought him to his favorite place, the Lighthouse at the St. Marks wildlife refuge.
He is survived by his wife Gayle and children Mindy, Tia, Bonne, Barno, Mara, Rachel, David, Seth and Cimmy. He was preceded in death by his father James, mother Mary and brother Homer.Â
Services will be held at Berean Christian Fellowship in Tallahassee on Saturday, Feb. 11th at 3 p.m. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service.Â
