TRAFFIC ADVISORY

—————-BIG BEND AREA —————-

CHIPLEY, FL – Drivers will encounter traffic disruptions on the following state roads in the Big Bend area as crews perform construction and maintenance activities.

Calhoun County:

  • State Road (S.R.) 69 Resurfacing from South of Northeast Van Lierop Road to the Jackson County Line – Motorists may encounter intermittent lane closures Monday, April 13 through Sunday, April 19, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. for construction activities.
  • S.R. 71 Resurfacing from south of County Road (C.R.) 275 to S.R. 69 (Pear Street) – Motorists may encounter intermittent lane closures Monday, April 13 through Friday, April 17 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for construction activities.

Franklin County:

  • U.S. 98 Resurfacing from Franklin Street to Carrabelle River Bridge – Motorists may encounter intermittent lane closures Monday, April 13 through Thursday, April 16, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for construction activities.
  • S.R. 300 (Island Drive) Resurfacing from Gulf Beach Drive to U.S. 98 – Motorists may encounter intermittent lane closures Monday, April 13 through Thursday, April 16, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for paving operations.

Gadsden County:

  • Interstate 10 (I-10) Routine Bridge Maintenance over Apalachicola River – Motorists may encounter intermittent westbound lane closures east of the county line, Sunday, April 12, from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. for routine bridge maintenance.

Leon County:

  • I-10 Resurfacing from west of Olson Road to east of U.S. 90 (Mahan Drive) – Motorists may encounter intermittent nighttime lane closures Sunday, April 12 through Thursday, April 16 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for paving operations.
  • R. 263 (Capital Circle) Resurfacing from South of U.S. 90 to North of I-10 – Motorists may encounter intermittent turn lane closures Sunday, April 12 through Thursday, April 16 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for paving operations.
  • R. 61 (Thomasville Road) Tree Trimming operations form Piedmont Drive to Leewood Drive – Motorists may encounter intermittent southbound lane closures Tuesday, April 14 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for tree trimming operations.
  • U.S. 27 (Monroe Street) Turn Lane Operations from Lakeshore Drive to Sharer Road – Motorists may encounter intermittent southbound lane closures Monday, April 13 through Friday, April 17 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for turn lane operations.
  • Northeast Gateway Welaunee Boulevard Construction Operation for new I-10 Overpass – Motorists will encounter intermittent westbound outside lane closures on I-10 between Centerville Road and Miccosukee Road Wednesday, April 15 from 6 p.m. to 4 a.m. for construction operations.

Wakulla County:

  • S. 319 Resurfacing from U.S. 319 off ramp to South of East Ivan Road – Motorists will encounter daytime shoulder closures Monday, April 13 through Friday, April 17, for construction activities.

—————-CENTRAL PANHANDLE —————-

Bay County:

  • U.S. 231 at Pipeline Road Improvement Project – The U.S. 231 median at Pipeline Road is closed. Drivers needing to cross U.S. 231 should proceed past the closed median and use established crossovers at either Cato Road or Lindsey Crossing.
  • U.S. 231 Intersection Improvements at Star Avenue/Titus Road Titus Road is temporarily closed at the U.S. 231 intersection. The closure is required for the reconstruction and realignment of Titus Road and to construct a new bridge. Drivers should detour via U.S. 231, State Road (S.R.) 390 and Titus Road. Detour signage is in place to safely direct drivers through the work zone. The temporary closure of Titus Road at U.S. 231 is expected to be in place through late 2026.
  • DuPont Bridge Replacement Project – U.S. 98 drivers will encounter periodic eastbound and westbound inside (left) lane closures from Oak Shore Drive to Bonita Bay Drive Monday, April 13 through Friday, April 17 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for widening and drainage work.
  • S.R. 390 Bridge Rehabilitation over Mill Bayou– S.R. 390 drivers may experience brief travel delays near the Mill Bayou Bridge Sunday, April 12 through Saturday, April 18. Crews will be delivering materials needed for the project
  • U.S. 98 Widening from Mandy Lane to east of Nautilus Street– U.S. 98 drivers will encounter intermittent and alternating lane closures from Mandy Lane to Nautilus Street beginning Sunday, April 12 through Friday, April 17 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for traffic loop installation and concrete work.
  • S.R. 20 Resurfacing from U.S. 231 to the Calhoun County Line – Motorists may encounter intermittent daytime lane closures Monday, April 13 through Friday, April 17, for construction activities.

Holmes County:

  • Howell Williams Road Bridge Replacement over Tenmile Creek – Motorists may encounter intermittent daytime lane closures Monday, April 13 through Friday, April 17 for construction activities.
  • U.S. 90 and S.R. 79 Bonifay Resurfacing Project – S.R. 79 northbound drivers will encounter a lane shift between Virginia Avenue and Iowa Avenue from Monday, April 13 through Friday, April 17 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Washington County:

  • S.R. 79 Roadway Reconstruction Project – S.R. 79 drivers will encounter periodic lane closures and traffic stoppages from south of Millers Ferry Road to Mallory Road, Monday, April 13 through Friday, April 17 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. as crews perform construction activities. Signage and traffic flaggers will be in place to safely direct drivers through the work zone.

Updated Traffic Switch for Orange Avenue

at Capital Circle Southwest in Leon County

CHIPLEY, FL – Motorists traveling along Orange Avenue at Capital Circle Southwest will encounter a new traffic pattern. Traffic on Orange Avenue will be placed in the final configuration beginning Thursday, April 2, 2026, at 10 a.m. As part of ongoing construction activities, traffic will be shifted to the newly constructed and striped eastbound and westbound lanes.

All activities are weather-dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to use caution when traveling through a work zone and to watch for construction workers and equipment entering and exiting the roadway.

Traffic Switch for Springhill Rd. at Capital

Circle Southwest in Leon County

CHIPLEY, Fla. – Motorists traveling along Springhill Road at Capital Circle will encounter a new traffic pattern. Traffic on Springhill Road will be placed in the final configuration beginning Thursday, April 2, 2026, at 10 a.m. As part of ongoing construction activities, traffic will be shifted to the newly constructed and striped northbound and southbound lanes.

U.S. 90 Intersection improvements

project concludes in Jackson County

CHIPLEY, FL – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has completed a project to improve the intersection of U.S. 90 at State Road 69 (Porter Avenue) in Jackson County.

Improvements include:

  • Adding new left turn lanes on U.S. 90.
  • Upgrading traffic signage and signalization.
  • Installing lighting at all four corners of the intersection.

This project is part of FDOT’s continued effort to improve safety and traffic flow on state roadways.

Traffic switch for Capital Circle

Southwest in Leon County

CHIPLEY, FL– Motorists traveling along State Road (S.R.) 263 (Capital Circle Southwest) in Leon County will encounter a new traffic pattern, from Springhill Road to the general aviation access road at Compass Pointe, beginning Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at 10 a.m. As part of ongoing construction activities, traffic will be shifted to the newly constructed Southbound lanes. Airport Commerce Boulevard traffic will need to use Aviation Avenue when accessing Capital Circle.

This traffic shift is necessary to continue construction activities in the median sections of the roadway. Message boards, signage, channelizing devices, and traffic control officers will guide drivers through the work zone. The speed limit in the area will be reduced to 45 mph during construction.
