Driver critically injured
in Scott’s Ferry accident 

YOUNGSTOWN – A 63-year-old Marietta, GA man suffered critical injuries after he lost control of his pickup truck shortly after 2 p.m. July 2 at Scott’s Ferry Road and Hwy. 231 in Bay County.

The accident caused one northbound lane to be closed for a short time.

According to a news release from the Florida Highway Patrol report, “Information provided by witnesses and roadway evidence discovered at the scene indicates that a 2017 Dodge Ram Pick-up truck traveled off the east shoulder of the roadway, prompting the driver

to lose control of the vehicle, and overturning a short distance away.”

The injured man was flown by ShandsCare emergency helicopter to Bay Medical Center to be treated for his injuries.

ATV driver injured while going
wrong way in southbound lane

JACKSON COUNTY – A Graceville man was seriously injured when his ATV collided with a pickup truck at 9 p.m. on June 25, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The 36-year-old ATV operator was traveling north in the southbound inside lane of SR 75 S near New Bethel Road when he ran into the front of an oncoming pickup truck driven by a 60-year-old Panama City man.

After impact, the ATV ran off the road and into the median.  The driver of the truck attempted to avoid impact with the oncoming vehicle and also ran onto the median, where his truck overturned before rolling back over and coming to a stop on all four tires.

The ATV driver was not wearing a helmet.  The driver of the truck, who was not using his seat belt, escaped injury.

Marianna woman killed in
Sunday afternoon crash

JACKSON COUNTY – A mid-afternoon crash at SR 69 and Paradise Club Road resulted in the death of a 64-year-old Marianna woman on July 2.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the driver was traveling south on SR 69 around 2:30 p.m. when a northbound pickup truck – driven by a 28-year-old Quincy man – crossed the center line and drove into the first truck.

The driver at fault escaped with minor injuries.

Cottondale man dies in
July 1 collision on SR 2

JACKSON COUNTY – A Cottonwood man was killed and his passenger, a woman, who was also from Cottonwood, was seriously injured in a July 1 crash on SR 2. Both were 29 years old.

According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, an SUV driven by a Newville man, 58,  had stopped at the intersection of SR 2 around 9:15 p.m. and was facing south on Timberlane Road as an eastbound vehicle was approaching.

The SUV pulled out into the path of the oncoming vehicle and collided with the front left of the pickup truck carrying the pair from Cottonwood.   The pickup overturned and began rolling over before coming to rest on the grass shoulder, south of SR 2, just east of Timberlane Road.

The SUV came to a stop in the eastbound lane on SR 2, just south of Timberlane Road.  The driver and his passengers – including  a 57-year-old woman from Jacksonville Beach and a 53-year-old Jacksonville woman –  all sustained minor injuries.

Cottondale man dies
in ATV crash June 26

COTTONDALE – A Cottondale man was killed when his ATV collided with a deer last week, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

The 46-year-old was traveling east on North Road at 6:29 a.m. on June 26 when he ran into a deer standing in the road. Upon impact, the driver was thrown from the vehicle and landed in the middle of the road, where he was fatally injured.  The ATV came to a stop along a dirt shoulder.
