BLOUNTSTOWN – The man charged with second degree murder for the death of a 29-year-old woman whose body was dumped in a Calhoun County creek will remain in custody after making a first appearance before County Judge Keven Grover in court Thursday.
Charles Matthew Gable, 35, of Altha, was denied bond.
Christopher Edward Vickery, 36, of Mossy Pond, was arrested as an accessory after the fact. His bond was set at $250,000.
Both are being held in the Calhoun County Jail.
Cooperation from the victim’s family and quick follow-up by investigators resulted in the two men taken into custody Tuesday night.
Brittney Dykes was found on top of a creek bed under Camp Head Road when a local woman walked down to the site Sunday afternoon. The body was facedown, wrapped in a sheet with her left arm and legs exposed. She was wearing shorts and a t-shirt.
She leaves behind a three-year-old child, who is now in the custody of his father, and three other children, ages 8, 7 and 4, who are in the care of their grandparents.
An account has been set up at Emerald Coast Federal Credit Union to help the family with funeral expenses.
