Tractor-trailer driver dies at
the scene after being ejected
in Calhoun Co. crash Saturday

CALHOUN CO. – A 48-year-old Chiefland man was killed Saturday when his semi tractor and trailer ran off the road and went through a line of trees along State Road 20, just .3 miles east of County Road 287.
The driver was traveling with a 49-year-old woman, also from Chiefland, who was seriously injured.
According to the report from the Florida Highway Patrol, the vehicle was westbound on SR 20 in Calhoun County at 4:19 p.m. on Nov. 25 when it went off the road, through the north ditch and into the tree line. The truck and trailer continued in a northwesterly direction as it went deeper into trees.
The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.
The FHP investigation into the crash is still remains open at this time.
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, Calhoun County EMS and the Carr-Clarksville VFD assisted at the scene.
