PANACEA, FL – Ronald Ray Crutchfield, master mechanic, brother, and friend, died on Friday, May 3, 2024 at the age of 66. He was born on Jan. 12, 1958 to Audie and Opal Crutchfield.
Ronald’s life revolved around his passion for building and repairing motorcycle engines, a craft he mastered after earning his mechanic certifications from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. His expertise and skills in the mechanical field empowered him to help others far beyond motorcycle engines. For several years, he resided on St. Croix, where he played a pivotal role in storm restoration efforts post-devastating hurricanes. Ronald’s adeptness in repairing generator engines restored power to critical infrastructure, showcasing his unwavering dedication to his community. He was also the proud owner of Midnight Engineering, his motorcycle business, where he poured his passion and expertise into building and designing motorcycles from the ground up. Ronald was most proud when his work could help those in his community who needed support. One of his proudest moments was when he successfully organized a community-wide event to benefit breast cancer patients and survivors.Â
Known for his generous spirit and boundless enthusiasm, Ronald lived life with gusto. He possessed an innate ability to captivate audiences with his storytelling, leaving listeners craving for more. His charisma and wit endeared him to all who crossed his path.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Audie and Opal and his sister Sue Redd. Ronald leaves behind many special memories and he will be greatly missed. He is survived by his siblings Jimmy and Elaine Brixhoff, Sherry and Gary Rankin, Sandra and Ben Holbert, and Danny and Lisa Crutchfield, along with several nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.Â
In honoring Ronald’s vibrant spirit, a private ceremony will be held to celebrate his life. His family encourages all who knew him to honor his memory by finding your passion, taking a motorcycle ride, or having a good time with those you love.
