Bring a ‘flamboyance’

of flamingos to your

home with a donation!

by Teresa Eubanks,  CLJNews.com

You don’t usually see flamingos in our neck of the woods but by making a small donation to help out a local family, a group of friends will ensure an entire flock of the exotic beauties will pay a visit to your home in Bristol or Hosford!

They will deliver a flock of the bright pink birds  – whose gathering is known as a “flamboyance” – to brighten up your property and give your neighbors a laugh.

You can also surprise a friend by sending the flock to their home or business.  The birds will remain in place just 24 hours before “mysteriously migrating” to another location.

The birds’ helpers will direct the flock to the home of your choice for a one-time fee of $25.  If they happen to land in your yard, be patient – they fly off after 24 hours but, if you’d like them to make a quicker trip to their next spot, you can donate $20 for early removal!   It’s all done in the spirit of fun while neighbors help neighbors during a difficult time.

The crew tending the flamingos will continue the fundraiser through August 1.  For more information, or to schedule a visit from the flock, contact Carolyn Drew at (850) 643-8073.

The benefit is to assist the family of Shane and Garrett Maneth.  Garrett was injured six weeks ago while on the job making repairs to the Chipola River Bridge when he lost his balance and fell 30 feet, sustaining many critical injuries.

Shane’s wife, Garrett, is with him at Shepherd Center in Atlanta, GA.  The center provides clinical care, research and family support for patients with complex conditions, including spinal cord and brain injuries.  She said he is expected to be there several weeks.

“He is NOT paralyzed – his hands work, his feet work, his eyes work…we just need his brain to wake up,” Garrett posted on her Facebook page July 2.  “You can tell when he’s in pain, which also is a good sign. Brains are difficult to say what exactly is going on…it’s all on its own timeline. It’s up to the Lord. We will just keep praying that Shane becomes more responsive…that his brain wakes up and becomes more alert. We are still believing that he will be 110%.”
