BLOUNTSTOWN, FL – Blountstown Fire Chief Ben Hall left Blountstown Wednesday morning behind the wheel of a Dodge Durango filled to the brim with snack cakes and cookies (along with some cash) to show his support for the Treasure Island Fire Rescue Dept. near St. Petersburg. “They got hit hard by the flood waters of Hurricane Helene and the wind of Hurricane Milton,” Hall said.  He noted that the department,  which is on a barrier island, donated a much-needed rescue truck to his crew after Hurricane Michael hit Calhoun County.   He added that his department uses that truck almost every day.  The chief recalled how oatmeal cream pie cookies became a mainstay snack for him while working in the aftermath of Hurricane Michael and he thought the Treasure Island crew would enjoy some treats.  Blountstown Police Chief Mark Mallory accompanied him on the drive to deliver the goodies. Hall added that they resisted sampling the cargo during the drive.
