Clyde Samuel Rudd

QUINCY, FL – Clyde Samuel Rudd, 74, a cherished family man, respected businessman, and proud veteran, passed away peacefully on Jan. 9, 2025 in Blountstown.
Born on Aug. 21, 1950 in Tallahassee, Clyde’s journey through life was marked by dedication, love, and an unwavering spirit.
Clyde was the beloved son of the late Malcolm Horace Rudd and Edith Hilda Murray Rudd.
His life was a testament to the values of hard work and commitment to family. After high school, he honorably served his country in the Army National Guard, instilling in him a sense of discipline and service that he carried throughout his life.
Upon returning to civilian life, Clyde channeled his energy into starting a family and establishing his own mechanic business in Quincy. His entrepreneurial spirit and mechanical expertise earned him respect in the community. Later, he contributed his talents to several other businesses before joining Anderson Columbia, where he worked until he retired due to disability.
Clyde’s passions were as heartfelt as his dedication to his work. He was an avid trike rider, finding joy and freedom on the open road. Fishing was another favorite pastime, providing him with quiet moments of reflection. However, his greatest joy was found in the laughter and company of his grandchildren, with whom he loved to spend time.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and perseverance, survived by his nine children, Selena Jenkins (Roy), Sammy Rudd (Alison), James Rudd, Malcolm “Mac” Rudd, Hubert Rudd, Heather Clem (Daniel), Kari Worthy, Jessica Rudd, Samantha Rudd; one brother, Malcolm “Sonny” Rudd; one niece, Lisa Rudd; one nephew, Jeffrey Rudd; 23 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Clyde’s life was a portrait of devotion, both to his family and to the community that he served. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered as a pillar of strength, a loving patriarch, and a true friend to all who knew him.
