BRISTOL, FL – Students at Tolar School in Bristol got a surprise when members of the Iron Vikings Motorcycle Club pulled in with a roar of their engines Thursday morning to deliver warm winter coats they collected for kids.

The members delivered 77 brand new coats, along with many hats and gloves,  for students who might otherwise go without.   “We chose that school ‘cos it’s in the middle of where we all live,” said the group’s vice-president, Tex. Some Iron Viking members reside in Bristol, one lives in Sumatra and others are in the Tallahassee and Panama City areas.

Students were delighted when they got to look over, sit on and rev up the motorcycles that members rode to the school.  “It was awesome to see the students interact with the volunteers,” said Tolar Vice-Principal Byron  Barlow.  “It was a great experience.”

The group is described as a law-abiding international motorcycle club. “We are a global, united front, with Clans scattered across the world, all bound by the same ironclad code observed by all of our Members. We stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the Alliance of Law Abiding clubs, and we welcome active military, veterans forged in fire, everyday heroes from law enforcement, EMS, and all walks of life in between,” according to their website. Those interested in joining are welcome to contact the local group’s president, Hurricane, at (850) 323-0066 or or the vice-president, Tex, at (850) 549-5948.  The club has been in existence for two years, has 10 members and welcomes more.

Members look for opportunities to do charitable work and enjoy riding together.  “In a month, we probably put 1,500 or 1,600 miles on our bikes,” Tex said, and noted that the group recently helped one of its new members install some cabinets at his home.

The local club will be taking part in the upcoming Shop With A Cop motorcycle ride in Panama City on Saturday, Dec. 13.  Riders are asked to donate $10 and bring a new unwrapped toy for a child. Registration is at 8 a.m. CT. More info on the event can be found through the Harley Davidson Shop on Panama City Beach. Proceeds will go to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest FL and Anchorage Children’s Home.
