Altha Fourth grader is Regional 8 Balance Beam Champion
Altha School gymnast makes Team Florida and
brings home trophies in Region 8 Championship
ALTHA – Altha Public School fourth grader Addalynn Jones represented Team Florida against seven other states across the southeast on Sunday, May 7 in Ft. Lauderdale and came home as the Balance Beam Regional 8 Champion with a score of 9.90.
She also finished fourth overall in her division with a score of 39.0, competing with girls from South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Mississippi, Louisanna and Florida.
Team Florida was named Region 8 Champions with a score of 158.1, edging out Team North Carolina following the competition in.
Last month, Addalynn was crowned All-Around Xcel Silver State Champion on at the USA State Gymnastics Championship Meet in Lakeland.
She was a vault state champion (9.55), Bars state champion (9.875), Floor state champion (9.875) and a second place beam finisher (9.80). She finished seventh in the state out of 820 athletes, with an all-around score of 39.100. That score qualified Addalynn for the regional meet in Ft. Lauderdale as well as the prestigious honor of making Team Florida. This honor is awarded to the top 8 athletes in the state of Florida for their respective levels.
Aside from the individual achievement, Edgewater Gymnastics also had a first place team finish and were crowned the Florida Xcel Silver Division 2 Champions.
