AMBULANCE CRASH
BRISTOL – Liberty County ambulance director Melissa Peddie was just airlifted to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital following a collision on SR 20 at Turkey Creek Road, about three miles east of Bristol.
“We don’t know about her injuries yet,” said Liberty County Sheriff Buddy Money. He did say she was able to communicate with emergency workers at the scene. The Jaws of Life tool was used to remove her from the driver’s seat, where she was trapped after impact.
The ambulance was heading toward Hosford to respond to call about a possible heart attack around 4 p.m. when it collided with a large box truck. The driver of the truck was alert and talking at the scene.
The sheriff was unaware of the driver’s injuries but did report that he was being taken to Tallahassee Memorial by ambulance.
Money said there was one witness to the collision. The Florida Highway Patrol is en route to the scene.
UPDATE:
Chris Peddie says his wife, Melissa, is doing well. “She got a little rest throughout the night, still hurting in the mouth and abdomen this morning, waiting on the doc to make rounds. If they give her the all clear, we will more than likely be headed in. Thank you everyone for your support and continued prayers.”
