COLQUITT, GA – Leaping Lizards! Colquitt will “stick up its chin and grin and sing ‘Tomorrow!  Tomorrow!’” when Cotton Hall Theater performs Annie Jr. this week and next! Based on the popular comic strip, Annie Jr. is adapted from the Tony Award-winning best musical. The tale of America’s most precocious red-headed will feature all the songs you know and love from the movie versions including “Hardknock Life,” “Maybe,” and “Tomorrow.”

The production features a cast of 60 performers between the ages of 6 and 18 taking on the iconic roles of Annie, Daddy Warbucks, Miss Hannigan, and of course the orphans Pepper, Duffy, and July. The cast has all been working hard to make the characters their own, including cast member Harlieanne Williams, who plays the role of Lily St. Regis — the scheming girlfriend to Rooster Hannigan.

“I’m so excited to get to play a character I have never done before,” said Williams, “What I love most about Lily is that I get to be a little evil and do a different accent. And the cast is so supportive. When I get done with my part, all the younger kids come up and tell me how good I did. And I remember being that age and how exciting it all is.”

Annie Jr. follows the story of an orphan named Annie living a “hard-knock life” at The New York City Municipal Orphanage run by the cruel Miss Hannigan. Annie dreams of being reunited with her parents and takes action to find them. In adventure after fun-filled adventure, Annie foils Miss Hannigan’s evil machinations, befriends President Franklin Roosevelt and finds a new family in billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary Grace Farrell, and a lovable mutt named Sandy.

Annie Jr. marks the 17th youth theater production since Cotton Hall started them in 2007.

Annie Jr. will be presented on June 14, 15, 21, 22, 2024 with Friday performances at 7 p.m .and Saturdays at 2 and 6 p.m. ET at Cotton Hall Theater, 158 E. Main Street, Colquitt, GA. Tickets are $12 and can be purchased online at www.swampgravy.com or by calling the Box Office at 1-229-758-5450.

There is no dress code, but the cast will remind you that you are “never fully dressed without a smile.”
