Man charged with
shooting neighbor’s
dogs, firing into home
BRISTOL, FL – A Bristol man is charged with two counts of felony cruelty to animals, firing a missile into a dwelling and discharging a firearm in public after neighbors along Owens Loop reported hearing gunshots fired nearby the morning of June 20.
One man awakened by the sound of gunshots found his dog lying on the ground with an injured back leg. He also discovered a hole in the siding of his home made by a buckshot pellet. The area of impact shares the wall to the bedroom where a four-year-old child was sleeping that morning, according to the report from the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office.
A second neighbor contacted the sheriff’s office around 8 a.m. when she walked outside to find her dog lying dead in her yard. Deputies found the dog had been shot in the hindquarters three times. “The angle in which the bullets entered the dog indicated that the dog was facing directly away from the shooter and therefore posed no immediate threat to the shooter,” according to the deputy’s report.
After receiving the first report, a deputy went to the home of another neighbor – Richard John Tylor Davis – who was suspected of being involved in the shooting death of another pet several months ago in the area.
A deputy arrived at Davis’ door at 7:20 a.m. but did not receive a response when he knocked. He saw that Davis’ Jeep was parked out front.
When the deputy returned 40 minutes later, Davis answered the door. When questioned, he denied firing a gun or shooting any dogs that morning and stated that he had just been awakened by the knocking on his door. He did acknowledge that he owned several shotguns.
His claim to have been sleeping earlier was disproven when it was discovered he had made some posts on social media at 7:11 a.m., according to the arrest report.
Another witness stated that early that morning, she heard three gunshots and then saw three dogs running from the Davis property.
Deputies were told by one witness that shots were heard coming from the general direction of the Davis home in a past incident when a neighborhood dog was killed.
Bond was set at $13,000. Davis was ordered to avoid contact with the alleged victims and turn over his firearms to the sheriff’s office.
Woman arrested for
beating victim 6 times
with bat & biting her leg
BRISTOL, FL – A woman who allegedly beat another woman six times with a baseball bat and bit her on the left thigh was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon causing great harm.
Jessica Danielle Anderson Lindsay, 32, was arrested following the June 2 altercation at a Bristol home. The attack happened shortly before 11 p.m.
The victim – who sustained multiple skull fractures and a broken cheekbone – was treated at the scene but declined transport by ambulance to the hospital.
According to the arrest report, a witness stated that he saw Anderson – who had her hands behind her back – approach the victim. When she got closer, Anderson pulled out the bat and begin hitting the other woman.
Following her arrest, Lindsey told a deputy that she came to the residence “to party.” She said after remarks were made that the victim “could take” Lindsay’s boyfriend, the two women began arguing and things escalated. She denied using a bat on the injured woman.
A white baseball bat spotted with droplets of blood was found hidden in a nearly woodpile and was taken into evidence.
Lindsey was arrested and booked into the Liberty County Jail.
She has been ordered to avoid contact with the victim and witness. Her bail was set at $50,000.

Deputies break in
locked camper to
arrest battery suspect
HOSFORD, FL – Liberty County Deputies used a metal bar to pry open the door of a camper where a man wanted on felony charges had locked himself in last week.
After learning that William Cody Massey was at a residence in Hosford, deputies went there to take him into custody on charges of felony domestic battery by strangulation following a report of an assault on his ex-girlfriend.
The victim told investigators on May 24 that she and Massey got into a verbal confrontation before he struck her on the left side of her face with a closed fist and then choked her, leaving her in fear of her life.
She stated that Massey had threatened to burn down a residence where she had been staying. She said he grabbed a gas can and began pouring the fuel on the ground near the structure.
The victim said she later heard two gun shots and explained that when Massey became angry, he would often fire his .22-caliber firearm.
The woman’s new boyfriend as well as a relative of Massey’s were at the scene; both confirmed he was the primary aggressor and witnessed the attack.
When deputies arrived at the site of the small camper, they found the door locked, saw someone moving the curtains and heard a dog barking inside. A relative who said he owned the camper declined to assist deputies in unlocking it.
Deputies announced several times that they would force open the door if Massey did not come out on his own.
Inside, they found Massey on his bed in the back of the camper. He tried to prevent being handcuffed by tensing his arms as he remained on the bed. A taser was held against his back as a deputy continued to struggle to handcuff him.
According to the arrest report, Massey continued repositioning himself on the bed, which made his body to press harder against the taser, causing it to move upward. His continued efforts to move resulted in pressure on the switch, causing the taser to stun him for half a second.
He was then taken into custody and taken to the county jail.
