7 p.m. UPDATE – Bristol collision on SR 20

Three truck crash
Monday in Bristol
leaves local man with
serious injuries
BRISTOL, FL – A 29-year-old Bristol man suffered serious injuries after a three-vehicle crash on SR 20 in Liberty County Monday morning. The accident left one of the vehicles on its side, partially on top of a second vehicle.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol report, the 10:20 a.m. crash happened when an eastbound truck – driven by a 64-year-old man traveling with a 26-year-old male passenger, both of Panama City – attempted to pull in front of another eastbound truck in the merge lane approaching Solomon Street.
The driver’s side rear panel collided with the passenger’s side front panel of the second vehicle, which was also a truck. The impact caused the first truck to go into a counterclockwise rotation in front of the second vehicle. The truck was then propelled across the center lines and into the direct path of a third truck just east of Solomon Street.
The third truck – driven by a 29-year-old Bristol man – then collided with the passenger side of the first truck in the westbound lane, causing the first truck to overturn onto its passenger side, facing west, with the back half of the truck on top of the driver’s side bed of the third truck.
Following the collision, the driver of the second truck drove back near the scene to await the arrival of emergency crews. He is a 48-year-old man, and his passenger, a 53-year-old woman, are both from Panama City. They escaped with minor injuries.
The two occupants of the first truck also received minor injuries.
FHP reported that the occupants of the first and second truck were wearing safety belts. The driver of the third vehicle, who sustained the most serious injuries, was not.

That!! Yes that area right there is getting pounded with crazyness! If your turning onto Solomon st.coming from either directions you better look ahead and behind you! Also that merge lane, people just going to fast and for some reason not paying attention! I live on solomon, and I’ve got to where I dodge that area, even go up spring st,or faircloth to get on 12,or turn on 20 to 12,just to avoid that spot! Something needs to be done!
Those merge lanes are bottlenecking traffic unnecessarily. The merge lane of westbound traffic at the light is ridiculous! It wasn’t needed at all!
