Two with critical injuries, one seriously hurt

SR 69 collision

CALHOUN COUNTY – Two people were critically hurt and a third suffered serious injuries after a driver attempted to avoid rear-ending a car that turned in front of him Saturday afternoon on SR 69, north of CR 69A.  

When a man traveling north on SR 69 attempted to make a U-turn, the driver of a pickup truck traveling behind him and pulling a 32-foot boat swerved to avoid hitting the vehicle.  The truck hit the left front of the car and then overturned, coming to rest on the east shoulder, facing south.  The boat slipped off the trailer and stopped on the east shoulder as well.   The car came to a stop on the east shoulder, facing northeast.

The driver of the car, identified as a 64-year-old man from Clarksville, received critical injuries.  His passenger, an 88-year-old Wewahitchka woman, had serious injuries.

The 46-year-old pickup truck driver, who is from Griffin, GA, sustained critical injuries.

The crash was investigated by FHP Trooper Myron B. Wagner.
