An autopsy performed today on a woman whose body was found on the rocks in a creek underneath NW Camp Head Road in Calhoun County has determined that she was murdered.

The woman has been identified but her name is being withheld until family members are notified.

The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office is working to determine the identity of a woman whose body was discovered in a creek that runs under NW Camp Head Road near the Mossy Pond community Sunday afternoon.
A local resident who walked down to the creek Sunday found the body of a white female on top of some rocks in the shallow water around 3:10 p.m.
“She was wrapped in a bedsheet with her legs and left arm exposed,” said Calhoun County Investigator John Scheetz. “There were no gunshot or stab wounds.” He said it could be possible that she died of a drug overdose and someone took her body and left it in the creek. “We just know that she died somewhere else and was discarded there,” Scheetz said. “Everything else is preliminary.”
The woman appears to be in her late 20s or early 30s, he said. She has brown hair that goes just below her shoulders. She was wearing black shorts and a black t-shirt that featured an image of horror movie character Michael Myers.
Sheriff Glenn Kimbrel is meeting this morning with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement as they begin efforts to identify the woman and determine what led to her death.
Anyone with information about the woman’s identity or the circumstances surrounding her death is urged to contact the sheriff’s office at (850) 674-5049.
