BLOUNTSTOWN – A ceremony will be held on the morning of Friday, Nov. 3, 2023, to officially begin construction of a new state-of-the-art healthcare facility.

More than five years after the devastation of Hurricane Michael severely damaged Calhoun Liberty Hospital, there will be a construction kickoff ceremony at the site of a new state-of-the-art facility.
“After years of planning and coordination, we are ready to start construction on a new facility that will literally be the heartbeat of our community,” said Mark Plummer, Chairman of the Calhoun Liberty Hospital Association, Inc. (CLHA) Board of Directors.
Since Hurricane Michael, CLH has been operating at 40 percent of its pre-hurricane capacity. Now, thanks to a number of federal and state agency funding sources, more than $30 million in reimbursable grant funding has been secured to build the new facility.
After a delay due to the rising cost of building materials in relation to available funding, construction is ready to commence in a phased approach. The first phase of construction will accommodate the community’s current healthcare needs and will include a state-of-the-art emergency room, eight private inpatient rooms, three flexible clinical decision rooms and rehabilitative services, including physical and occupational therapy, along with cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation.
