Free smoke alarms available

for Liberty County residents

Did you know that if a fire starts in your home, you may only have two minutes to escape?

The Bristol Fire Department,  along with the Liberty County Red Cross Volunteer,  want to help you, your family and our community to stay safe by offering to install FREE smoke alarms to families who need them.

Simply call Red Cross at 1-850-402-5717 or Scan the Barcode on the Red Cross forms located at the following locations:

•Apalachee Restaurant

•T-Rays Restaurant

•City Hall 

•County Courthouse

We look forward to installing your free-of-charge smoke alarms , which are now equipped with a 10-year battery.

FDOT Big Bend Traffic Advisory

CHIPLEY, FL– Drivers will encounter traffic disruptions on the following state roads in the Big Bend area as crews perform construction and maintenance activities.

Calhoun County:  State Road (S.R.) 71 Replacement of a Bridge Culvert over Baker Branch – Motorists may encounter intermittent lane closures Monday, Feb. 17 through Friday, Feb. 21 from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. for construction activities.

All planned construction activities are weather dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Motorists are reminded to pay attention to the speed limit when traveling through the construction area, to watch for construction equipment entering and leaving the roadway, and to use caution when driving through the work zone. Speeding fines double when workers are present.


River Fest this Saturday, 

Feb. 22 at Neal Landing

BLOUNTSTOWN, FL –  River Fest, presented by the Calhoun County Community Foundation will be held on Feb. 22 from 10 a.m.- 6 p.m. CT at Neal Landing in Blountstown. 

Enjoy live entertainment on three stages, shop from over 100 vendors, and let the kids run wild in the Kid Zone which features inflatables, pony rides, a petting zoo and more. 

See the classic cars at the Cruise In with Rivertown Street Cruisers from 10 – 2 p.m. or check out the boat parade and tournament weigh-in for the Big River Classic with Sizematters Fishing at 3 p.m. 

Close out the day from 4-6 p.m. with the Rock the River Concert on the Main Stage featuring Grace and Grit and Dylan Kelly. Be sure to stay for the fireworks show presented by FPL as we close out another exciting Florida River Fest.

Please note that Neal Landing in Blountstown will be closed to thru traffic from 5 p.m. CT on Friday Feb. 21 until 9 p.m. CT Saturday, Feb. 22 for the  FL River Fest.
