injury in May 9 crash

BAY COUNTY – A 57-year-old Blountstown man was injured when a car pulled out in front of him as he was traveling east on SR 20 near the Bay-Calhoun line around 11 a.m. on May 9.

The truck was in a passing lane when a Panama City woman attempted to make a left turn onto Sandstone Road and drove into his path. The driver of the truck swerved in an unsuccessful effort to avoid striking the Honda Element.

When the car hit the truck, the impact sent the larger vehicle onto the north shoulder of SR 20, where it overturned multiple times before coming to a stop in the middle of road.  The driver of the truck was transported to Bay Medical Center.

The 33-year-old driver of the car and a four-year-old boy traveling with her escaped injury.

Both drivers were wearing their seat belts.
