NOV. 5th ELECTION

The Presidential Republican Party ticket took the majority of votes in Calhoun and Liberty County this evening, with the Trump-Vance team claiming nearly 83% of the ballots in both counties while Democratic voters gave the Harris-Walz ticket just under 16% percent of the vote.

U.S. Senator Rick Scott and Congressman Neal Dunn kept their jobs with over 80% of the vote from Calhoun and Liberty County.

Republican State Senator Corey Simon held off his Democratic challenger Daryl Parks with more than 83% of the vote in Liberty County.  

In Calhoun County, voters gave Republican State Representative Shane Abbot 82% of the vote over his Democratic challenger Stephanie Lyn Leonard.

Liberty County voters secured another term for the District 7 Republican State Representative Jason Shoaf who took  just over 82% of the vote in his race against Democrat challenger Kenny Beasley.

 

CALHOUN COUNTY RACES

Republican Michael Bryant claimed the sheriff’s badge in the race with long-term lawman Glenn Kimbrel, who ran with no party affiliation.  Voters gave Bryant 1,325 votes over the incumbent’s 771.

Blountstown Fire Chief Ben Hall is taking on another community service role, this time as District 1 County Commissioner. The Republican candidate defeated Democratic incumbent Danny Ray Wise with over 79% of the vote.

LIBERTY COUNTY RACES

Liberty County Undersheriff Dusty Arnold took just over 87% over the vote over his challenger, Liberty County Jail Administrator Jacqueline Solomon, who ran with no party affiliation.  He received 957 votes to her 196.

Republican Supervisor of Elections incumbent Grant Conyers received 769 votes over his Democratic challenger, Gina McDowell, who had 370, giving him 72% of the ballots cast.

Longtime County Commissioner Jim Johnson held onto his seat with 740 votes over his Democratic opponent, Clay Evans, who received 407.

County Commissioner Scotty Phillips was edged out of his job by Derrick Arnold, who had 619 votes over the incumbent’s 428 in an unusually close contest in comparison to other local and national races this evening.
