Matt grew up in Wakulla County. He was a small-town guy with big city dreams, many of which came to fruition. After high school graduation, Matt attended Tallahassee State College and Florida State University, graduating with a Master’s degree in Applied American Politics and English.
After completing his educational goals, Matt went to work doing what he loved; advocating for those who needed it. Matt served in various roles in state politics, where he championed and shepherded issues through the process. He served as a Legislative Aide, Chief of Staff to a Representative and a Senator, and Deputy Legislative Affairs Director for the Commissioner of Agriculture. Outside of work, Matt found immense joy in his children, being outside, music, traveling and spending time with his family and friends. His love for the outdoors was evident in his appreciation of parks, botanical gardens or just taking his children to the Tallahassee Museum.
