Torbin Neal Dykes, 42, Blountstown
BLOUNTSTOWN, FL – Torbin Neal Dykes, age 42, of Blountstown, hit his final grand slam Thursday, March 20, 2025 at 4:20 p.m. as he passed peacefully on to his next life, surrounded by his wife, mother, sister, niece, and stepdaughter.
He was the beloved and only son of Jack and Janet Dykes. Torbin was preceded in death by his father, Jackie Raymond Dykes, his paternal grandparents Chester and Judsie Dykes, and his maternal grandparents James Neal Messer and Margaret Ann Seitz and his uncle James Richard Messer.
He is survived and deeply missed by his wife Nikki Anderson Dykes, their four-legged son, Ric “Flair” Dykes, and a stepdaughter Haley Pelt, along with his mother Janet Messer Dykes, one sister Tori Lynn Nichols and brother-in-law Joe. He also leaves behind three nieces, Carli Money, Laci Nichols, and Crystal Dalton, and one nephew, Jason Money and wife Samantha, his very special mother and father-in- law, Doris and Buddy Anderson, a host of aunts and cousins, not to mention his many friends who have become family.
Torbin was born Dec. 18, 1982 in Tallahassee and was a lifelong resident of Calhoun County.
He grew up riding combines in the field beside his big momma’s house, fishing in the beautiful Chipola and Apalachicola River and Iamonia Lake and playing baseball on any dirt he could find.
His path led him to many interesting places in life, but he eventually settled on Wrennie Moody Road, not far from his childhood home.
After years of enjoying the life of a single man, absolutely spoiled by his mother, he finally found the perfect woman to put up with him. Affectionately known to Torbin as “Jess,” Nikki was his crush from the bus and he married her on March 9th, 2025, while immediate family witnessed the union of their one-of- a kind love.
Torbin has always been an entrepreneur of sorts but decided several years ago to open Chipola Transport Services to meet the hauling needs of Calhoun and surrounding counties. However, his greatest business venture was Calhoun Cabinetry, which he and Nikki opened and successfully operated together.
Torbin, or as he was known to many, Bone, enjoyed all sports but he was an avid Florida Gator football fan and loved to throw a good football party. But baseball was his true passion, and he tried not to miss watching an Atlanta Braves game. His heart was rooted closer to home though, and his pride for the Blountstown Tigers baseball and softball teams could be witnessed by anyone in attendance.
So much can be said about the way Torbin lived his life but the best way to describe it is to the fullest. He did everything BIG, including how he touched everyone he came across. He made a lasting impression on anyone who was blessed to encounter him. He loved children and his friends’ kids called him Uncle Bone and he adored it. But, his first niece, Carli, held the only True Uncle Card. There was nothing she wouldn’t have done for him. She will carry the memories they made fishing and putting out deer corn for the rest of her life. You might have been fam or maybe he had a special nickname for you, like Pelt.
If you knew Torbin, you had a personal story with him. He had the ability to make everyone he met feel important. You could even say he had a following. Of all the stories that can be told, the most important is that of his personal choice to accept Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. His life had some lows but he overcame, found HIS woman, climbed HIS mountain and went out on top, as he watched that baseball fly into the grandstands, while RIP was waving him home.
Services will were held Monday, March 24 at River Town Church in Blountstown, followed by internment at Old Shiloh Cemetery in Scotts Ferry.
All arrangements were under the direction of Marlon Peavy at Peavy Funeral Home.
