Obituary – Alice Huber Ebersole
ALICE EBERSOLE
BLOUNTSTOWN – Alice Huber Ebersole, 94, passed away at River Valley Rehabilitation Center in Blountstown on April 1, 2023. Alice was born on Oct. 29, 1928 in Ephrata, PA. She married David Ebersole on July 25, 1948 and enjoyed 50 years of marriage until he passed on August 24, 1998. Alice was a devout Christian and spent her life in service to others. In 1955 they moved to, Colquitt, GA. where she served as a pastor’s wife and invested in that community. From 1963 until after her husband’s passing, she welcomed and cared for over 50 foster children. To them and the many children in her daycare, she was known as “Mama Alice”. In addition, Alice cooked and served many meals to family, friends and even strangers that she and David welcomed into their home over the years. In 2005 Alice moved to Blountstown to be closer to family and spent the remainder of her years serving others in this community. She helped feed residents at the nursing home, cared for home-bound seniors, drove people to church, volunteered at the Panhandle Pioneer Settlement, crocheted and sewed so many different items to help those in need. Sewing was definitely a passion for Alice and she continued to do it from her bed after she was no longer able to get up and move around. Before her transition to River Valley Rehabilitation Center she continued to write notes as a service to the church to encourage others. Alice blessed so many with her life. Memories include her love of gospel music, playing Scrabble, putting puzzles together and enjoying meals at the Senior Center.
The family was very blessed by her faithful caregivers, Adeline Griffin, Anita Gouge, Ruth Drawbond, Helen Brown and Carolyn Brock. These ladies loved Alice so well and went beyond the call of duty in caring for her in her home for almost two years. The family is also indebted to the wonderful caregivers at Emerald Coast Hospice for their dedicated service over the past two years. Thank you for the kind care for her these past five months at River Valley Rehabilitation Center.
