Betty J. Lunsford Smith

BRISTOL, FL – Betty J. Lunsford Smith, 80, of Bristol, passed away in her home on Oct. 11, 2023. She was born April 2, 1943 in Calhoun County.

Betty grew up in Blountstown and lived in Bristol most of her life. She retired from Centennial Bank. She served in her community with the Liberty County Chamber of Commerce, Farm Bureau, and taught line dancing at the Calhoun Senior Citizens Center for many years.

Betty enjoyed cooking, dancing, fishing, raising cows, walking, and spending time with her sisters and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Holley and Mable Tew Holley Shuler, and husbands, M.L. Lunsford and Joe Smith.

Betty is survived by her two children, Deborah Duggar and Robert (Sherri) Barber of Bristol, both of Bristol; grandchildren, Stacey Duggar and Stephanie Duggar, both of Bristol,  Kenny (Amanda) Barber of Kings Bay, GA, and Keith (Mandy) Barber of San Diego, CA; three step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and seven step-great grandchildren. She was deeply loved by her sisters, Gloria Cox of Tallahassee,  Linda Davis of Blountstown and Lila Davis of Bristol.

Visitation will be held Monday, Oct. 16 from 10 a.m. CT until 11 a.m. CT at Peavy Funeral Home Chapel in Blountstown. The service will begin at 11 a.m. CT with Pastor Chris Goodman officiating. Interment will follow at Lake Mystic Cemetery in Bristol.
