CHATTAHOOCHEE, FL – Brad Edward Owens was born Feb. 4, 1966, in Chattahoochee to Billie Edward Owens and then Edna Cloud Owens of Sneads. Brad, 57, passed away Monday, Jan. 29, 2024, in Ft. Walton Beach with his loving wife Marcy by his side.
Brad was a 1984 graduate of Grand Ridge High School. He grew up working on his family’s farm and was an active member of Grand Ridge FFA where he won ribbons showing pigs.
He tried a career in Corrections working at River Junction. While working there he met the love of his life, Marcy. He then began his career in EMS in 1992 and found his passion. He worked at Calhoun EMS, Jackson County Fire Rescue, Blountstown Fire Department, Liberty County EMS, and Capital Regional Medical Center ER-Quincy.
On the side he drove a tow truck for his nephew John of Mallory Towing and for a few years he played Santa in the Christmas parades, schools, and day cares in Blountstown, Bristol, and Altha.
He served as board member, and children’s church director at Blountstown First Pentecostal Holiness Church. He loved fishing, gardening, working with wood building tables, FSU Football and of course his overalls. He was an active member of Hickory Hill Baptist Church.
Brad was preceded in death by his mother, Edna Cloud Hewett of Grand Ridge; his father, Billie Edward Owens of Sneads; one brother, Rodney Hewett of Sneads; his in-laws, J. C. & Reba Mallory of Westville and three brothers-in-law, Junior Still of Port St. Lucie, Dan Mallory and Glen Barnett of Clarksville.
He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Marcy (Mallory) of Westville; his son, Bradley (Bubba) of Westville; daughter and son-in-law Allison and Steve Chambers of Clarksville; the apple of his eye, granddaughter Amber Chambers of Clarksville; his stepfather Bobby Hewett of Grand Ridge; stepmother Ann Owens of Sneads; three brothers, William Owens of Sneads, Jonathan (Mary Kathryn) Owens of Tallahassee and Jamie (April) Hewett of Louisiana; one brother-in-law,John (Christine) Mallory of Clarksville; five sisters-in-law, Dottie Howard Barnett, Sally(Greg) Phillips, Cheri Mallory of Clarksville and Tonya Hewett of Tallahassee; three bonus daughters, Brittney Jackson, Janna Martin and Sabrina Stone, one bonus son James Boo Baker, a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews as well as his lifelong best friend Chris Burch. Honorary pallbearers are the firefighters of the Blountstown Fire Department.
He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, awesome uncle, a dedicated EMS Partner,
Services will be held Sunday, Feb. 4 at the Peavy Funeral Home Chapel with viewing starting 1 p.m. CT and memorial beginning at 2 p.m. with Rev. David Goodman officiating.
