DELIGHT RHEINSCHMIDT

WISCONSIN – Delight Rheinschmidt, 92,  of Mosinee, WI died from an aggressive cancer on Thursday, March 16, 2023 while visiting her daughter in Altha.

Delight was born in Osseo, MN on Sept. 8, 1930 to the late Edgar and Mary Giese. She graduated as class valedictorian at Mosinee High School in 1948, played tennis for the University of Whitewater where she also majored in Education. Delight married Donald in 1950 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church and started their family in their River Road home.

She was a lifetime member and past President of the VFW Auxiliary, belonged to St. Monica’s Circle and spent many years as a Campfire Girl leader. She enjoyed going out to play Bingo, scratching off lottery tickets, an occasional trip to the casino and playing cards with anyone who sat across from her. During her winters in Florida with Sandy, she attended the Woman’s Club of Blountstown, Bizzie Beez Quilters and volunteered at the Pioneer Settlement, where she could always be found churning butter on a front porch or giving tours of the old Shiloh School House. Delight always lived up to her name with a smile and laugh for everyone. There was always an extra place at the kitchen table for whoever stopped by.

Delight was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, in 2006 and her oldest son, Mike, in 2012.

She is survived by six children, Karen McKenna of Mosinee, Donna (Mark) Torok of Vienna, VA., Tom (Vicki) Rheinschmidt of Vero Beach, Dan (Amie Miller) Rheinschmidt of Mosinee, Sandy (Bob) Voss of Aloha and Kathy (Bryan) Whitman of Mosinee; her brothers, Hi-D (Gwen) Giese of Mosinee, Lee Giese of Clive, IA.; her sister, Ruann Gelb of Huntington Beach, CA., and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Services to honor Delight will be held on Saturday, April 15 at 12:30 p.m. at Our Savior National Catholic Church in Mosinee, WI. located at 804 Jackson St., Mosinee, WI. 54455, with Father Marion officiating. Dress is casual and tye-dye is preferred. The family will receive friends at her son Dan’s house for Delight’s “after life” party.

Delight’s son, Dan and daughter, Sandy would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff of Covenant Care Hospice of North Florida. A special thanks to Emily, Jordan and Jennifer who went the extra mile with the family.

All arrangements in Florida were handled by Comforter Funeral Home of Pt. St. Joe.
