BLOUNTSTOWN, FL – Dorothy Weaver Sandusky Fleck, known affectionately as Dottie, passed away on July 22, 2024 in Blountstown at the age of 80. Born on Nov. 3, 1943, in Perry, GA to Homer Edward and Mabel Ellis Weaver, Dottie lived a life marked by devotion to her family, community and faith.

Dottie graduated from Perry High School and pursued higher education at Andrew Methodist College in Cuthbert, GA. Throughout her career, she made significant contributions to the Florida Securities Commission in Tallahassee, Farmer’s Home Administration in Blountstown, Susan’s Interiors in Blountstown and her dream job, the owner of Aunt Flouncey’s Attic in Panama City, selling antiques. She cherished her role as a stay-at-home mom, dedicating herself to raising her children with love and care.

A long-time member of the Blountstown United Methodist Church, Dottie was deeply involved in her faith community. Her spiritual life was a cornerstone of her existence, influencing her dedication to service and community involvement, including her active participation in The Torreya Garden Club as a founding member.

Dottie’s interests and hobbies painted the picture of a vibrant, fun, loving and creative woman. She was passionate about cooking, traveling, gardening, interior design and decorating. Her musical talents were expressed through playing the piano and singing, bringing joy to all who knew her.

She is survived by her loving husband, Robert H. (Bob) Fleck of Blountstown; son, David Sandusky of Marianna; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Brian Day of Tallahassee; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Caroline Fleck of Boynton Beach; son, Mike Fleck of Loris, SC; son and daughter-in-law, John and Nancy Fleck of Tallahassee; daughter, Kathy Fleck Calvanese of Springfield, MA along with grandchildren, Bradley Sandusky, Joshua, Brandon, and Noah Day, Stephen and Robert Fleck, Anthony and Christopher Calvanese, Samuel and Sarah Jane Fleck and eight great-grandchildren. Other survivors include sister-in-law Catherine Weaver, of Atlanta, GA;  one nephew, Edward Eugene Weaver, Jr. and two nieces, Dorothy Weaver Ivanov and Teresa Weaver Jones.

Dottie was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Mabel, and her brother, Edward Eugene (Gene) Weaver, Sr.

Dottie’s life will be celebrated and remembered for the warmth and light she brought into the world, her unwavering faith, and her profound impact on her family and community.

A memorial service will be held to honor Dottie’s life at 11 a.m. August 3  at the Blountstown First United Methodist Church. There will also be a time of visitation from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. Friday, August 2 at Adams Funeral Home in Blountstown. Contributions will be accepted to the Alzheimer’s Project at  2344 Centerville Road in Tallahassee, FL 32308.
