BLOUNTSTOWN, FL  – Edith Irene Killingsworth, 79, of the Abe Springs Community, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2023 while her loving husband of 50 years was by her side and her family surrounded her bedside in Gainesville.

Edith was born on June 1, 1944  to Jessie and Ivy (Pope) Roberts. She  lived in the Abe Springs Community of Calhoun County all her life. A devoted homemaker to her family, she loved watching wrestling, going to yard sales, looking at and reading cookbooks, and going to thrift stores, but most importantly, she loved her family.

She was a member of Abe Springs Baptist Church in the Abe Springs Community of Blountstown.

Edith was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie and Ivy (Pope) Roberts; brothers, C.J. Roberts, Alvin Roberts, and Johnny Roberts; sister, Corrine Roberts; and sisters, Etta Mae Dean and Alice Jordan.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 50 years, Jimmy Killingsworth; daughters, Melissa Peddie and husband Chris of Bristol and Melinda Womble and husband Roland of Scotts Ferry; sister, Bessie Nunnery of Wewahitchka; grandchildren, Chris Brown and wife Amy, Tim Brown and wife Jennifer, Jessie Brown, and Kayla Womble; great-grandchildren, Samuel, Jadyn, Grace, Timothy, Leira, Beau, and Raelynn; aunt, Dolly Guilford of Wewahitchka.

Services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 23 at 12:00 p.m. CT at Peavy Funeral Home Chapel in Blountstown with Rev. Allen Pitts, Rev. Michael Morris and Tim Brown officiating.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, Sept. 23 at Peavy Funeral Home Chapel from 11 a.m. CT  until service time at 12 p.m. CT.  Memorialization will be by cremation.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Shands Hospital Burn Unit. (UF Health Office of Development, P.O. Box 100386, Gainesville, FL 32610. Please indicate on your gift that it is directed to UF Health Shands Hospital Burn Unit, and that it is in Edith Irene Killingsworth’s memory.
