Eleanor Culverhouse Ligon
BRISTOL, FL – Eleanor Culverhouse Ligon, age 83, of Bristol, went home to be with the Lord on June 24, 2024.
She was born July 30, 1940 to Amos and Doris Culverhouse of Bascom.
Eleanor was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Bristol, where she was actively involved in missions work, women’s ministry outreach programs, and enjoyed her weekly Bible study group.
She worked in and out of the home until her retirement in 2002. Eleanor was the heart of her family and excitedly welcomed each new addition with open arms. Her favorite hobby was crocheting each new grand and great-grandchild an afghan that she gifted to them at their birth.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, sister Emma Alice Culverhouse, brother James Culverhouse and sister Mary Culverhouse Gardner.
She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Edward Ligon; children, Billy Smith (Polly) of Malone, Bruce Smith (Lisa Marie) of Bristol, Lara Smith Deason (Ronnie) of Bristol, Lisa Smith O’Bryan (Darryl) of Clarksville; grandchildren, Brandi Smith (Brandon), Brooke Smith Goodman, Holton Adams, Ashley Smith Nguyen (Anh-vo), LeAnne Smith, Alissa Deason Taylor, Daniel Deason (Kristen), Jay O’Bryan (Kristin), Jeremy O’Bryan (Tori), Jacob O’Bryan (Chelsea); 10 great-grands, Cathryn, Charlotte, Emma, Wendy, Eli, Brooklyn, Hallie, Miley, Leo, Adeline; sisters, Katie Culverhouse McKinnie, Vernette Culverhouse Dant, Virginia Culverhouse Curls; step-children, John Ligon (Diana) of Illinois, David Ligon (Tracy) of California, Marjorie Ligon Davis (Jim) of Virginia.
Services will be held at First Baptist Church in Bristol Friday June 28. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. ET with the service starting at 11 a.m. ET. Interment will follow at Lake Mystic Cemetery.
All arrangements are under the direction of Peavy Funeral Home in Blountstown.
