Henry Carr Smith
BLOUNTSTOWN, FL – Henry Carr Smith, 73, of Blountstown passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2024, after two and a half years of illness.
Henry was born Aug. 18, 1950, in Blountstown to the late S.K. (Pete) Smith and Lighty McDaniel. He lived in Calhoun County all of his life other than his time serving his country in the United States Marines during the Vietnam War where he received the Combat Action Ribbon and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm. He worked as a Dredge Boat Leverman and enjoyed spending time outdoors and fishing.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Donald Smith and Charles (Frank) Smith and his adopted stepson Jeffrie Rector.
Survivors include his wife Debra Rector Smith; a sister, Voncille White; stepchildren, Tosha Holley and Jeremy Thornton; two grandchildren he raised Jocelyn Rector and Joseph Rector and nine other grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service to honor Henry will be held at a later date for friends and family at his favorite hangout, Blountstown River Landing.
