Iva Lily Watson

PANAMA CITY, FL – Iva Lily Watson, age 69, of Panama City,  went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 3, 2024.

Iva was born on July 31, 1954 in Port St. Joe to J.C. and Virginia (McFarland) Newsome and lived in Northwest Florida all her life.

Iva worked in banking most of her life at various banks throughout the area.  She also worked with the Bay County School Board.

She enjoyed watching “Days of Our Lives”, Hallmark movies, traveling, singing in church, helping with church functions, and cooking. Iva loved all her family but watching and spending time with her great nephews and grandchildren gave her life purpose. She was a member of River Church in Panama City.

Iva was preceded in death by her beloved parents, J.C. and Virginia (McFarland) Newsome.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 47 years, Robert “Bob” Lee Watson, Jr. of Panama City, FL; son, Jason Watson, Sr and wife Allycia of Panama City; daughter, Ginnyfer Watson of Deland; brother, Terry Newsome and wife Rhonda of Frink; nieces Jessica Newsome and Kayla Newsome, brother-in-law Gil Evans and wife Dianne of Metairie, LA; great-nephews, J.R. Tyus and Gage Tyus, treasured grandchildren Ciara Carter, Jason Watson Jr., and Zaylen Broxton, along with numerous extended family members.

Services will be held on Friday, May 10 at Peavy Funeral Home Chapel in Blountstown at 2 p.m. (CT) with Sandi Stewart officiating.

The family will receive friends on Friday, May 10 at Peavy Funeral Home Chapel in Blountstown from 1 p.m. (CT) until service time at 2 p.m. (CT). Interment will follow at McClellan Cemetery in Frink.

All arrangements are under the direction of Peavy Funeral Home in Blountstown.
