James A. McLendon
BLOUNTSTOWN, FL – James A. McLendon, 86, of Blountstown passed away Sunday, March 17, 2024 in Blountstown.
He was born July 1, 1937, in Altha to the late Alex and Mandy McLendon and had lived his entire life in Calhoun County.
James was a mechanic, beginning his career with John McCoy and later spent 25 years working with the Calhoun County School Bus Barn where he retired as a crew foreman. After retirement, he worked with Mowrey Elevator for a short period of time just to stay busy, but he also pursued his true passion for traveling and exploring.
Other than his parents, James is preceded in death by his son, Donnie McLendon.
Survivors include his wife Johnnie Faye McLendon; his daughter, Brenda McLendon; his son, Paul Ross; his brothers and sisters, Roger and Raymond McLendon, Nancy Foster, Christine McDaniel, Linda Hunt, Margie McLendon and Shirley Martin; his grandchildren, Brandon, Nick, Brent and Brittney; his great- grandchildren, Jamie, Jaden, Leeann, Anakin, Kai, Marleigh, Brantley, Chandler, Gunner and Lilly and his special K9 companion, Shy.
Service to honor James’ life will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 21 at Adams Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Darrell Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Memorial Cemetery near Blountstown. A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
