BRISTOL, FL – Jerilyn Shuler Ammons, 65, of Bristol, peacefully passed from her earthly home on Nov. 6, 2023.

Jerilyn was born Nov. 3, 1958, in Marianna to Jerry Wade Shuler and Ruby Lee Varnum Shuler. She lived in Liberty County for most of her life, and in McClenny for a short time as a child.

She attended Baker and Liberty County public schools and graduated from Liberty County High School. She earned her associate degree in Data Processing from Chipola College.  After Chipola, she attended Florida State University, where she earned her degree in Management Information Systems.  She later attended Lively Technical College, where she received her certificate in computer programing.

She was employed by the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles before joining the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE). While at FDLE, she spent 44 years passionately working on criminal justice and investigations technology solutions to promote officer and public safety.

Jerilyn enjoyed weekend trips to the local rivers, lakes, beaches, museums, parks, and movie theaters.  She especially always loved to be at White Springs with family swimming, skating, playing pool, ping pong, and enjoying a hamburger and snow cone.

She was preceded in death by her spouse, Gordon Ammons; her father, Jerry Wade Shuler; her son, Christopher Gordon Ammons; her paternal grandparents, Parley Sunshine Shuler and Ethaelle Bozeman Shuler, and her maternal grandparents, Lester Ambrose and Orean Dalton.

Survivors include her sons, Jerry Scott Ammons and his wife Teresa, and Ethan Ammons; her daughter, Kaycee Ammons; her grandchildren, Cayson Shuler, Emersyn Corbin, Connor Ammons, and Kenlee, Caden and Kash Ammons; her mother, Ruby Varnum; her brothers, Wendal and Parley Shuler; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.  Jerilyn loved her children and grandchildren as they were number one in her life.

Services to celebrate Jerilyn’s life will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 10, 2023, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Bristol. Interment will follow in Gregory Neil Gentry Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the services on Friday beginning at 9 a.m.
