Obituary – Mae Belle Grantham

MAE BELLE GRANTHAM

BLOUNTSTOWN – Mae Belle Grantham, 87 of Blountstown, passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2023, in Blountstown.

Mae Belle was born January 30, 1936, in Graceville to the late Lemmie (L.M.) and Ressie Miles and had lived in Calhoun County since 1959. She was a true matriarch and pillar of the community. She served on the Calhoun County Senior Citizen’s Board for many years as well as being instrumental in organizing the Senior Citizen’s Death by Chocolate event. She volunteered with the local Lions Club. Mae Belle also served her church by teaching Sunday School, running the nursery and leading the church’s chocolate Easter Egg project.

She is preceded by her husband, Harvey Grantham; her daughter, Debra Grantham; her brothers, A.C., Artis, Odell, Adell, B.H. and R.L. Miles; her sisters, Ann Pippen and Melba Strickland and great-grandchildren Brantlee Sourbeck and Emma Jean.

She is survived by her children, Billy Grantham (Jennifer), Nina Hall (Dennis), Lisa Godwin (Emory) and Carla Anderson (Leon); her sister Patricia Newsome; her grandchildren, Christie Hester, Ashley Pavuk (Chris), Alex Baxley (Jordanna), Matthew Grantham (Paige), Bryan Cumbie (Lori), Anna Caison, Amanda Glover (Tony), Alisha Hall Cox (Danny), Deidra Hall, Brandi Burkes (Aaron), Kelli Sourbeck (Tommy), Danielle Patnode (B.J.), Gabrielle Emelander (Dustin) and Aqura Williams (Kelsey); many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other extended family.

Services to celebrate Mae Belle’s life will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 1, 2023, at the Blountstown First Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. David Goodman officiating. Interment will follow in Wood Cemetery near Blountstown. There will be a time of visitation one hour prior to the services on Saturday.
