BRISTOL, FL  – Martha Sue Pitts, 85, of Bristol,  passed away peacefully on Oct. 20,2023 at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born to Mary Katherine Fort and Johnnie Virgil Fort on July 25, 1938, in Kennett, MO. She moved to Florida in 1974 where she worked as a manager at the Apalachee Restaurant and was a postal employee for many years.

Sue wore many hats, but her most beloved was tending to her grandkids, great-grandkids, and baking cakes. Sue never met a stranger, to know her was to love her. She was well loved and better known as Grannie Sue to many in her small town.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cazzie Hubert Pitts; her mother, Mary Katherine Fort Copeland; her father, Johnnie Virgil Fort; stepfather, Loyde Copeland; her brothers, Jerry Ronald Fort and Nathan Dale Fort; a sister, Barbara Jean Fort and her grandsons, Micah and Caz Forbus.

Sue is survived by her children, Shelia Sirmons (Don) of Bristol, Lanny Blackburn (Chris) of St. Louis, MO, Randy Blackburn of Bristol, Lisa Rogers (Carlton) of Chattahoochee,  Connie Keathley (Jody) Dundee, Candy Walker (Jay) and Cammie Bowlin (Darrin), both from Havana; two sisters, Fay Franklin of Livonia, LA and Kathy Thompson (Larry) of Caruthersville, MO; 14 grandchildren, Amanda Jackson and Deanna Parrish, Susan Pigue and Lana Larson, Johnathan Blackburn, Gracie Blackburn, Hayleigh Robinson, Josh Rogers, Heather Bryd, Eric Keathley, Courtney Keathley, Dustin Bowlin, Dallas Bowlin, Cylas Bowlin and many great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, a host of well-loved nieces and nephews.

Services were held Monday, Oct. 23 at Peavy Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Chris Goodman officiating.

Interment followed in Lake Mystic Cemetery in Bristol.

All arrangements were under the direction of Marlon Peavy at Peavy Funeral Home in Blountstown.
