HOSFORD, FL – Nannie Lou Mills, 102, passed away peacefully at her home in Hosford on April 13, 2024. At her request no services are planned. Her family will honor and remember her privately. She was of the Baptist faith and loved the Lord and her family deeply. She will be greatly missed.

She was born May 15, 1921, in Houston County, AL to the late Harvey Gent and Mary Elizabeth (Creel) McAllister. At a young age she and her family left their farm in Alabama and moved to Florida; first settling in Bay County then later moved to Liberty County. She met, fell in love with and married Marion Preston “Buddy” Mills. They had four children and were married until his death in September 1987.

In her younger years she loved drawing, painting, playing dominos and working on jigsaw puzzles. Later she began to love fishing, gardening, and family gatherings. Until her kids were grown, she was a housewife and mother, taking on a few short-term jobs. She worked for the Liberty County School Board in the Hosford Elementary School lunchroom for a short time, then became a school bus driver for many years. She had so many fond memories of the many children who rode her bus, and often said she hoped they were all happy and doing well.

Other than her parents she is also preceded in death by her husband, Marion Preston “Buddy” Mills, an infant daughter and son, Tony Jack Mills; her daughter-in-law, Robin Marie Mills; her beloved sister, Aleen Stanley and her brothers, Agnew “Judge” McCallister (Lottie), Edwin “Ed” McCallister (Ethelle Clayton), Floyd McCallister (Dorothy), Hilton McAllister (Mae), Houston and Lytell McAllister.

She had a long, blessed life but did become lonesome after losing so many friends and family members but God smiled on her the last eight plus years and sent much happiness and joy to her through her great-great granddaughter Preslie Burke who she adored.

She is survived by her son Eddie Joe Mills, her daughter, DeLane Burke and her husband Bud; five grandchildren, Danny Mills and his wife Cheryl, Donna Byler and her husband Thomas, Marc Burke and his wife Teresa, David Mills and his wife Amy and Amy Mills Smith; her great-grandchildren, Jason Mills, Jarren Mills, Marissa Pitts (David), Caleb Byler, Micah Byler (Grace), Preston Burke (Natalie), Kortney Ivanenko (Nikolay), Colton Mills (Hannah), Faith Mills and Seth Smith (Hannah); great-great grandchildren, Kinslyn Pitts, Alayna Byler, Emalyn Byler, Carter Mills, Calvin Mills, Preslie Celeste Burke, Peyton Smith, Sophie Smith, Weston Smith, Konnor Smith and Barrett Smith. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Carrol McAllister and a host of nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Whitney Edwards of Grey to Glory and Jordan Taylor of Covenant Care for their assistance, support and loving care through this difficult time.

Arrangements were handled by Adams Funeral Home in Blountstown.
